[US] Scam and threatening to attack my family
So I didn't fall for this scam but I had seen it before, but was kind of scary and wanted to spread awareness and just get people's opinions. Have been looking for a PC upgrade for a while, saw a really cheap nice looking PC on Facebook marketplace (no specifications listed), so decided to reach out. Got their phone number and they asked for my shipping address and name after my saying I'd be interested. Apprehensive about the scam, I gave them my real name (not a great idea) but the address of a family business (my family's dental office), which could receive packages. They then asked me for an advance on the shipping fee while "on their way to FedEx". I got scammed by this before where you send the money and then they don't ship anything. So I just blocked them and reported their Facebook account. They now reached out from a different number, saying "Did you just wasted my time, do you know I've your address and your name, with your cellphone number right here with me and it take me nothing to come down there gun you and your family members down" And then sent me a picture of a gun. I know they are likely just empty threats hoping I'll send them money. But I do have some fear as family members of mine do work at the address I provided and I did give them my real name. I guess anyone else just be careful submitted by /u/SillyYou8433 [link] [comments]
