[EU] Hotel availability... scam?

Hi all! I work for a pretty small hotel, I used to work in-person, but we're closed right now so I'm managing emails. We receive a lot of spam and scams (so many people wanna work on our damn website, apparently), but there's one I really don't understand. Sometimes I'll get emails that look pretty normal, asking for room availability or the services we offer and such, and while you can definitely look everything up by yourself on any website we're on, I have to respond. A standard email is like "warm regards, please check if rooms are available from this date to this date, also do you have a pool, awaiting your feedback". They're also always in weirdly robotic sounding english, like it's not written wrong or anything, it's just that nobody talks like that. When I hit reply the email address changes, leading me to believe it's a spoofed email, but like... why? What type of scam is this? There's no links you can accidentally click or anything. I haven't been responding when I see the email address change but my coworker did and we never got a response from them leading us further into a scam or anything so what even is the point? Just sending junk to your email and making you waste your time responding? Does anyone have any explanation because I'm just curious about the strategy here lol submitted by /u/limejuuice [link] [comments]
